Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

Well i guess Friday night's game at the DW will be a very interesting one ,seeing the visitors are the team that Shocked WIGAN in the C..Cup at Headingly a bit back . I read in this mornings press that the coach PETERS will be resting quite a few player's inreadiness for next weeks Final against LEIGH at Wembley , so i am just wondering just how will WIGAN go about their duty or task on Friday .??? Can anyone of you followers predict a score ??? or result even?? G.B.

Wigan to get 50+ points. Do they not get fined these days for fielding under strength teams?

Seriously , I think you only have to stick to the named squad, and you can change that at a loss of an interchange from the bench per change,
However,I bet they can produce sick notes for most of their first team squad if required
Wigan by 40

HKR have made 13 changes to the 21 man squad from their last game. The paying public, obviously not me, are being short changed. It will be the same with the Leeds v Leigh game on Sunday.

Enjoy the game Joe. I have to settle for Wires and Cats. I see Sam Burgess is in the frame for the Warrington job. From 25/1 to 5/4.

Job done,move on
Don’t really like to see thumpings like this.Understand partly why they made the changes but still not nice to see
However, look out for a super try scored by Smith 2nd half

Not content with signing a Stand Off from Australia to play in a Semi final on the strength of one League game, Hull KR turned up last night with a First team including only two players who played in the Semi Final, three players on two weeks loans with the rest coming from their Reserve and Academy teams which resulted in their normal Reserve team playing in the warm up game being made up of remaining Academy players and Scholorship players which also ended up with a massive win for Wigan.

Something wrong with the rules of the game when any club can act in this way to play in Semi Finals, Finals and Play Off games, especially when supporters including those with a season ticket are paying money out of their family income to watch games that amount to a farce!

It’s hard to disagree with your assessment of what unfolded yesterday, that along with Leighs signing of Gildart(who will be a HKR player next term??)doesn’t look good on the sport
Leigh however, who have a smaller playing squad will be fielding a near full strength team at Leeds
Good on them

Joe Maplin and other supporters.

The RFL with some of the things they have introduced like the golden point in league games which the fan's do not want, the farcical diciplinary system which now involves fines instead of a suspension, referees in charge of games involving their own town club, no proper scrums and the allowing of players moving around different clubs on a regular basis has made a mockery of the game as we knew it.

It seems a bit unfair to me that HKR played last night and Leigh have to play on Sunday. Less recovery time for Leigh.

This is why followers of the round ball think we are a tinpot sport
Sometimes it’s hard to argue anything different with some of the actions of the RFL

Owd Codger /
I thought you expressed perfectly everything you said about the current state of the game of Rugby League. All the items listed are very true i just do not understand who the hell brought these changes in our game .
What i do believe is that it will go a long way to ruining the glorious sport that we have followed for decades, yet these nameless yuppies come along with their high -fluted brainles ideas. Can anyone for a moment see the "golden point " being adopted in the Premier League ? I think not , i was brought up on if a game is tied after 80 mins then each team sharesa point each . After just watching the test matches in Rugby Union ie ALL BLACKS/AUSSIE'S/SOUTH AFRICA/ETC, Their scrums are something to behold. As for the refs they are a different calibre ,so professional, nothing like the clowns in our game .
FINALLY i would like to add that both the ref and the video ref got it terribly wrong last night's match Wires v CATLANS ,they try which was disallowed against the Catalans was and should have been allowed for on seeing the re-run it clearly shows the wires fullback nudged the ball out of the CAT'S arm then was collected by another player who dived over yet it was not given ,even the great Phil Clark said it was atry so yet another boob . I do agree with everything that JOE MAPLIN writes also things need to go back a step in mu view ,but i don't think it will happen. SO congrats to Wigan Warriors irrespective of HUll KR's situation welcome 2 points and goal diff too ! G.B.

The changes have been brought in by the more recent people in charge at the RFL who seemed to have no knowledge of the rugbly league game and just follow whatever the NRL do and take no notice of whatever the supporters have to say about things they have introduced, the latest being their introduction of the NRL golden point in our Super League games which supporters do not want and they are not willing to end.

From what I have seen over the past few seasons, the running of the game at the RFL has gone downhill since a certain Maurice Lindsay vacated the position of Chief Excutive!

Tried to embrace the golden point idea, and in some cases(cup game)where a game needs to reach a conclusion, fine.
But generally for league games,a draw is a draw, end of.
As far as scrums go,I don’t think anybody would argue that the RU scrum is far superior to the RL version.Do I want to see the debacle that was the RL scrum return,no thanks.
Too much foot up,feeding and hookers scrawling around on their backsides for me.
Would welcome a proper contested scrum RU style, but not a return to the old rl scrum
(In any case the
modern players couldn’t pack a suitcase,never mind a scrum )

Joe Maplin

I agree with you about scrums, but something needs to done to end the present farce where on coccasions is fed between the feet of the prop and second row and the loose forward just puts his hands on the backsides of second row players and does not even his putt his head into the scrum.

As far as I am concerned, all that was needed was to allow feeding from the scrum half to his own hooker for him to heel it back.

Alright, it takes a little longer but that is a scrum is supposed to be in Rugby!
